In the medallion there is a representation of the image of Our Lady of the Chapel of the Apparitions, in Fátima, with the Precious Crown. Twelve jewellers and goldsmiths worked on the crown during three months, totalling about 6,500 hours of work. It was studded with 2,992 precious stones, in keeping with a design created by Casa Leitão, with emphasis on the eight gold half-arches, under a blue orb, evoking the Queen of Heaven.
